It seems a bit daft to find personality faults with someone with a substance abuse problem stemming from two serious accidents (the 1955-56 motorcycle one and the 1960 taxi crash that killed Eddie Cochran). This guy lived with serious literally crippling pain. Possibly there was a better drug to help him stay functional but it was likely illegal to prescribe even then, so he used whatever was available. IMO, Gene still rocks better than anyone!
Rebecca, certainly he had a tragic life but the comment about him being a 'mental case' is from Hal Carter,a road manager who had to deal with Vincent's behaviour on several tours not a family member, fan,or psychiatrist.
Johnny - I have a 2nd generation kindle which is fine (i bought it a while ago.) Today I would buy an iPad to read with. Thanks for all the cool shares here.
Stay away from iPads at the moment lads, you can't read and your eyes will blinking after 20 minutes - too fuckin white! Kindle's MUCH better, believe me. Along with "Give the anarchist a cigarette" this is really Farren's best work (for a guy that likes Bob Dylan...). BTW, try read Nick Kent's "Apathy for the Devil", very cool read for the summer.
Gyro,Mihaleez, thanks for the info.I just want to load my own books on & read them,iPad is too expensive & has too many features that I don't want. Can you run a Kindle independently from Big Brother Amazon?
As far as i know, no. Kindle's only available through Amazon US and for that reason there's a "traffic" on the commissions "tail"... If you're living there you're lucky, if you're a European citizen then i 'm affraid you'll have to wait a little. At least that's what happened with me. But there's nothing than a real book. The way it looks on the shelf, you can touch it, smell it especially if its old... It's the same thing with vinyls. I wouldn't bought an iPod or a Kindle if it wasn't for things i can't find and the best thing about 'digitalized' versions of music and books is the portable ability and of course the sharing.
Thanks for this one!
